Courses

Edgbaston Old Church runs various courses throughout the year for those interested in deepening their Christian faith and commitment, or exploring the Christian faith for the first time.  These include Alpha Courses, an annual Lent Course, Marriage Preparation, and Confirmation Classes, as well as occasional short courses on particular themes. Some of these are run jointly with our three ‘partner’ churches in the area (St George’s, Edgbaston; St Faith and St Laurence, Harborne, and St Peter’s, Harborne); others are specific to our own parish and congregation.

Lent Course 2012

Plans are already underway for next year’s Lent Course, provisionally scheduled for Tuesday evenings, starting on 28th February 2012 at 7.30 pm, to be held in church.  We shall be taking as our starting point the famous Post-Communion Prayer that we use each Sunday, which begins: ‘Father of all we give you thanks and praise that when we were still far off you met us in your Son and brought us home’, and exploring its meaning for our lives and for our faith.  All welcome.  Refreshments available from 7.15 pm.

Marriage Preparation

The ‘Edgborne’ Group of Parishes, to which we belong, is currently running a series of one day (Saturday) events for couples preparing for marriage, hosted by each of the churches in turn.  For more information about the next Marriage Preparation day, please contact the Vicar.

Bible Reading Fellowship Group

This is a group of congregation members who meet regularly throughout the year to share their reflections on the course of daily Bible readings they follow, using the ‘New Daylight’ Bible reading notes for guidance. New members are always welcome.

For further information about any current or forthcoming courses please contact the Vicar.
