Events 2010

We have wonderful events lined up for you this year.

Juliet Allen - Piano Recital

Saturday 13th February 2010 at 7.30 pm
We are delighted that the acclaimed pianist, Juliet Allen, will be giving a piano recital for us in aid of the Organ Restoration Appeal. She will be joined by CBSO celllist Helen Edgar. Tickets (£12, including interval refreshments) will be available early in 2010. This will be a really special evening - don't miss it!

Arnold Singers of Rugby School

Friday 5th March 2010, at 7.30 pm
By popular request, we shall again be welcoming the Arnold Singers of Rugby School to perform a varied evening of choral music for us.  This is always an absolute treat, so do please keep this date free!

Ginny Davis - 'Ten Days… that shook the kitchen!'

Friday 23rd April at 7.30 pm
Ginny Davis will be bringing her hilarious and beautifully observed one-woman show: 'Ten Days ... that shook the kitchen!' This was a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008, and received rave reviews, so we are hugely grateful to Ginny for agreeing to come and perform here, to help raise funds for our Organ Restoration Appeal. The show will take place at the Walker Memorial Hall (please note different venue from usual!). Tickets £10 (which will include refreshments).

News!

Congratulations!

Warmest good wishes to Dr Anthea Harris, who has been licensed by the Bishop of Birmingham as Assistant Anglican Chaplain to the University of Birmingham.  Fortunately, we shall continue to enjoy her valued presence in our midst on Sunday mornings!

Three Cheers…

For everyone whose hard work, dedication, and generosity helped to make 2009 such a landmark year for us, in so many ways.
It was a year full of unprecedented challenges for us, particularly in relation to the fabric of our church.  Not only did we have the legendary EOC dry-rot fiesta; we also undertook a complete overhaul of our heating system, our entire drainage network, dealt with a major underground flood (due to a serious leak in our water pipes), replaced eight stained-glass windows that were vandalised, and much else besides.

However, thanks to the tireless work of David Neale (who supervised all the construction work with exemplary skill, professionalism, and efficiency), Joe Heaton (who helped to process the insurance claims), and to some exceptionally generous donors from amongst the congregation, all the work was completed to a very high standard.

We begin 2010 in tremendously good heart: we were able to meet all our financial obligations in 2009; our congregation numbers continue to rise; and God has been exceptionally good to us!  We still face many challenges in the coming months – not least the major repairs to the lych gate, and our continuing organ appeal.  Stewardship continues to be a pressing issue for us.  But well done, you lot!  We are proud to be associated with such a vibrant, forward-looking church!
